LaBelle509 326 Posted March 14, 2013 Good luck tomorrow! Walk as soon as you can, and as much as you can. Stay on top of your pain, with proper pain management. Take your medicine on time. Once you are able to drink: SIP, SIP, AND SIP!!! AVOID DEHYDRATION AT ALL COST!!! It's normal to feel nervous but do not stress. It will not benefit you at this point. Healing starts in the mind and than the body follows
joatsaint 2,814 Posted March 14, 2013 I believe I can safely say that every sleever has been where you are now. I can only tell you what worked for me. DENIAL - really - I didn't let myself believe it was really happening till I scooted across from the gurney to the operating table. The 2 hour ride to the hospital - DENIAL, I was just driving over to Houston. Waiting for 4 hours for surgery, DENIAL, I was just in a room watching TV with my friends, I just happen to have an IV in my arm. Them wheeling me into the OR, DENIAL, it was just a fun ride down the hall on a table - Wheeee!
Sassygirl06 962 Posted March 14, 2013 Make sure to tell the nurses if you are in pain. Be your own Patient advocate. If the meds they give you aren't taking the pain away ask for different ones. Then since you have enough pain meds you will be able to get up and get moving. The faster you move the better the blood flow, blood flow equals faster healing. Good luck! You will do fine!
