New Help choosing a Protein Shake

Recommended Posts

My only choices are Bariatric Advantage High Protein Meal Replacement (any of the 5 flavors), powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein powder (any of the 5 flavors), Premier High Protein shake (pre-made) (any of the 3 flavors), Body Fortress whey Protein Powder (any of the 5 flavors), or the SlimFast 321 Low Carb shakes.< /p>

Also I have to mix the Bariatric Advantage and Body Fortress with Water and the Unjury with Fat-Free Milk.

So what do you all think? What was your favorite Protein Shake and which flavor?

I am so excited about this journey but this is what is going to scare the hell out of me!

I'm glad your excited about your journey. My first question is...why are those your only choices?? Alot of people either love or hate Isopure. I personally will be picking some up to try it because I can mix it with G2. Right now I use Premier Protein shakes that I got on sale. Its really up to you on what you like. Word of warning to you, things will not taste the same after surgery so you may not like what you have chosen before hand! Good luck!

My surgeon's office wants us to only use those five choices. I don't remember why but they did tell us in the Nutrition class.

I just hate to buy it and then not like it...lol!

I'm drinking the Trim Fit from GNC. The chocolate Peanut Butter isn't too bad. Kinda have that after taste sometimes. It's tolerable though

I'd research the reason why, most clinics get a kick back from you purchasing it, but maybe your surgeon has a good reason. Let us know!

Well they only sale two of the five and we don't have to drink them but they have them available instead of ordering them online.

I wish I could just get a trial pack of all of them to try them all out...lol

I love the premier premade shakes too!! I've only had chocolate and vanilla since that's what they have at Costco! Lol But they're so easy to grab and go and they actually taste good. I even have my husband hooked on them now! :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
