TropicalGirl1205 84 Posted March 13, 2013 Ok everybody. I had my 3 week post op appt today. 3 weeks will actually be Friday but so far I'm down 25 lbs! Is that average or should I have lost more? I lost 18 lbs between my pre op and 1st week post op and lost 7 lbs in 2 weeks. I hope it goes a little but quicker than 7 lbs in 2 weeks!
marymouse50 20 Posted March 13, 2013 I am at 23 days, and lost 15 pounds total 9 since surgery, I have a low bmi, I lost zero last week, when I started pureed foods, I have lost 2 pounds since sunday though, so hoping things move a bit faster too. good luck
johnlatte 1,232 Posted March 13, 2013 Everyone loses at a different rate. It is difficult to say what is "average". People with higher BMIs seem to lose more and at a faster rate initially than those that have lower numbers. It also depends on your post op diet plan. Some Drs. release their patients to go on regular food sooner than others. Some skip the puree portion altogether and start soft foods, like a week after surgery. All of that is going to factor into what your weight loss average is going to be. I would say that 3 weeks out, and down 25 isn't a bad thing at all.
Pixie Dust 526 Posted March 13, 2013 WOW! 25 lbs in 3 weeks??!! That's awesome! Would you have been able to do that without surgery? I know I couldn't! I would say to just take one day at a time & believe you will be healthy soon! Everyone loses weight at different rates of speed, even when people join WW together. I always lost more than my friend but that was because I was way bigger than her! Good luck to you!
Decembersleever 154 Posted March 13, 2013 I would agree with John. 3 weeks out and down 25 pounds is pretty darn good! Keep up the great work
TropicalGirl1205 84 Posted March 13, 2013 Thanks guys! No I don't think I would have been able to do it without surgery. I was too far gone to even care to lose weight on my own! I appreciate that this surgery is a tool to help me and I am so glad I did it!
