Ugh protein is hard to do

Recommended Posts

... Today I am officially one week out and have lost 19 lbs. I know things will slow way down no matter what but I am trying to get my Protein in anyway. It's just so hard! It's so difficult just to get through one shake and for some reason today it just seriously made my stomach angry! How in the world do the rest of you pull it off?

This deal reminds me of driving on ice, when in doubt..slow down. Sleevie don't dig too much or too fast. I am over a year out and he still feels the same about it.

At one week out only slow tunes for you. Don't worry about starving. Won't happen. If you don't get it all in...no problem..tomorrow is another day.

Be good to sleevie now, she gonna make you look good later. :)

At 1 week out you should be focusing on hydration. If you can get all your liquids in then add Protein as your body allows, but only after you are getting all your liquids.

Isopure drinks will kill two birds with one SIP lol. 40 grams of Protein in one bottle and it counts toward your liquid. It is not a shake almost like a Powerade type drink.

I agree... I'm one week out and my doctor encourage me to focus on liquids to stay hydrated. To day I tried a Protein shake and couldn't get through the first sallow. I'm wasting shakes and money . When I see the doc Monday I will inform her but until then sip, sip, sip until your sleeve says different

I'm 5 days and experiencing the same thing, would rather make sure I'm hydrated and I don't overdo it, but I am trying my best and that is all I can do. I will be picking up some Isopure and mixing it with Gatorade this weekend!

Thank you everyone!! I will definitely focus more on my hydration. I did have a one week pre op diet. Think I lost 5 lbs. when I say 19, that is all since surgery. I had the unfortunate pleasure of trying Isopure last week. Now THAT is gnarly stuff. I think I'd rather attempt unflavored powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury in crystal light instead. Thank you again!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
