I'm a Zombie! Any suggestions?

Recommended Posts

It's been almost 2 months since my surgery and I am a zombie! I need at least 10 hours of sleep, can't focus, no energy. I am taking my Vitamins twice a day, plus the B12. My calories average between 600-950. My Protein averages between 60-80 a day. My hubby has been great up until yesterday. He got aggravated because I can't remember what he just told me 30 minutes before and I'm not working right now and he wants to know what I'm doing all day because there is plenty of work to do around the house. I do basic house cleaning, but I only spend about an hour a day doing housework. I feel lazy and there is so much I want to do. I had more energy early on than I do now. I take synthroid for thyroid disease, wonder if my dosage meeds adjusting since surgery? oAny advice?

call your doctor. It does sound like your synthroid needs to be adjusted, especially since you're already taking B12. B12 is what I was going to recommend to you. :) Good luck

I say it's time to consult your doctor. I hope you get your energy back soon. Have you tried some exercising? it could get the endorphins going to make you feel better.

I would definitely talk to the doc about your thyroid. It didn't take but 30 pounds or so until my dad had to adjust his medicine after WLS! Good luck!! :)

I imagine you had a full panel of blood work done prior to surgery. I found out before hand that my Vitamin D was very, very low. It took months to raise it up, but I feel like i have so much more energy now than I did before. Ask your NUT/primary doctor what they recommend.

Good luck.

Some people, a very small percentage, do not respond properly to the artificial thyroid hormone Synthroid. I know because I was on Synthroid. My blood values showed excess circulating hormone, but my body did not convert it properly and I was freezing, puffy, incredibly forgetful and deepening depression. After years of doctors insisting on Synthroid, I finally found an updated endocrinologist and she put me on the natural hormone called Armour dessicated thyroid hormone. After 25 years on Armour, I feel great. You can also have low blood pressure. If your hubby wants housework done after you are adjusting to a tremendous physical change, he should hire a maid and let you get the rest you deserve. He can also do it himself. The best to you on your journey.

Marcia makes a good point that we all skipped over!! If he wants the house clean, he can do it himself. You're not feeling well! He can relax! lol Make sure you don't let him guilt you or stress you out, it can only make things worse! Focus on taking care of YOU, not the house right now!! :)

How many carbs are you eating? My brain totally shuts down if I have less than 20 grams of carbs per day.

Well, these would be my words exactly...except for the part about the thyroid issues, I don't have any thyroid issues...but everything else is me to a tee. I have absolutely no energy to do anything whatsoever, barely a shower, and thank goodness I only work 2 days a week. I take have done blood work lately, and they told me I am low on D3, Iron and B1...so I guess that's the reason I am soooooo tired and drained. I have included these supplements in my diet since Monday, but how long will it take for me to feel better and with more energy? I'm so sick and tired of feeling so sick and tired.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
