Lisa R. 9 Posted March 13, 2013 It's been 3 weeks since my surgery and I've had brief episodes of being light headed. Not a big deal, after all I just had surgery and I feel exhausted most of the time. Well yesterday I took my dog to the vet and while speaking to the vet I had another spell, but this time I totally passed out. I woke up on the floor to the vet asking me if I'm ok. I was so embarrassed and scared at the same time. I've never fainted before. My post op appointment said I had low levels of Iron and Vitamin D and I am taking medicine for that. Has anyone else experienced this???
mokee 588 Posted March 13, 2013 Sounds like blood pressure dropped. Are you on medicine for that? If so go to PCP and get it checked out.

Lisa R. 9 Posted March 13, 2013 I've been on blood pressure for almost 7 years.....one of the reasons for having this surgery. My blood pressure meds did change after my surgery. I will be calling my doctor today.
jtdavis71 6 Posted March 13, 2013 You could have several things going on with you. 1. your blood count could be low 2. you can have a Iron deficiency or 3. you need to come off your blood pressure medicine or your blood pressure medicine needs to be changed but make sure you go see your doctor. Lisa R. 9 Posted March 14, 2013 Went to the doctors and my blood pressure was 98/58. Way to low! So I am no longer taking blood pressure meds. Something I have been looking forward to, but didn't expect for it to happen only 3 weeks out of surgery. So glad I decided to go to the doctors. :0)
Kennedy310 33 Posted March 14, 2013 Glad you're okay. And good to hear you resolved the issue with your doctor. Thanks for sharing. I'm on blood pressure medication as well. So, I will definitely monitor it after my surgery.

mark! 449 Posted March 14, 2013 Glad you figured a possible issue. I check my blood pressure regularly at the house, and once my bp was around 110/60 on meds, I stopped taking them so it didn't get any lower. Now I only get light headed when not drinking enough, or when getting up too fast and the blood rushes from my head.
