It's been 3 weeks since my surgery and I've had brief episodes of being light headed. Not a big deal, after all I just had surgery and I feel exhausted most of the time. Well yesterday I took my dog to the vet and while speaking to the vet I had another spell, but this time I totally passed out. I woke up on the floor to the vet asking me if I'm ok. I was so embarrassed and scared at the same time. I've never fainted before. My post op appointment said I had low levels of Iron and Vitamin D and I am taking medicine for that. Has anyone else experienced this???

Sounds like blood pressure dropped. Are you on medicine for that? If so go to PCP and get it checked out.

I've been on blood pressure for almost 7 years.....one of the reasons for having this surgery. My blood pressure meds did change after my surgery. I will be calling my doctor today.

You could have several things going on with you. 1. your blood count could be low 2. you can have a Iron deficiency or 3. you need to come off your blood pressure medicine or your blood pressure medicine needs to be changed but make sure you go see your doctor.

Went to the doctors and my blood pressure was 98/58. Way to low! So I am no longer taking blood pressure meds. Something I have been looking forward to, but didn't expect for it to happen only 3 weeks out of surgery. So glad I decided to go to the doctors. :0)

Glad you're okay. And good to hear you resolved the issue with your doctor.

Thanks for sharing. I'm on blood pressure medication as well. So, I will definitely monitor it after my surgery.

Glad you figured a possible issue. I check my blood pressure regularly at the house, and once my bp was around 110/60 on meds, I stopped taking them so it didn't get any lower. Now I only get light headed when not drinking enough, or when getting up too fast and the blood rushes from my head.

I take pills for Iron twice a day so I know that's ok.

Good for you Lisa! Can you imagine if this happened while driving? I'm glad you jumped on this so fast and saw your doc.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
