food has become a pain in my ass sitting with the family is great I just don't want to eat at normal times . My poor wife's every woken thought is what I'm eating and drinking and how much ....just started the 3 sip thingy with Water so I know I'm getting enough water in over the day I haven't been over the last few days happy with the results so far just want to settle down to some sort of normality . dinner is ether I'm eating to fast or starting with wrong food first some stuff I can eat one day and not the other Tomato Soup seams to be the best going to try the Protein Shakes to get a handle on how much I'm getting in any tips tricks or menus would be appreciated. Rant over feel better I've got that off my chest . Happy sippin and nibbling slevers: )

I am only 5 1/2 weeks out but i find that dinner is my biggest problem. I think because I am eating too fast. I am trying to slow down but its not that easy because after two bites i remember and I am full! But I find that I do best with shrimp, crawfish, fish, and crab meat. I have tried chicken, can chicken, ground turkey, ground beef etc. It sits in my stomach like a brick and I usually throw up. If you like seafood try it. Others have said the samething it seems to go down nicely.

I use Unjury chocolate splendor protien powder. (ordered on line) I put a little hot Water in my blender and disolve a heaping teaspoon of decalf instant coffe (or more to taste). Then add 1 - 1 1/2 cups water or milk, about a tablespoon of Jello chocolate instant pudding mix. and 1-2 packets of sweetener (I prefer Truvia). Blend briefly. Drink and Enjoy. You can play around with the components trying butterscotch, or vanilla pudding, vanilla protien powder, fruit etc. This works for me. Hope it helps you. Also if you have trouble getting you fluids in, try warm drinks. I found I love herb teas, like cranberry apple, caffiene free vanilla chai.

Sharon, I love chocolate splendor! I bought a whole container of their other chocolate formula and a sample pack of chocolate splendor and so glad that I did. My next full container will be of that flavor. It tastes so decadent.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
