Sooner girl36 27 Posted March 13, 2013 Finally told my dad tonight about surgery. He was totally supportive and didn't freak out. Now both my parents and husband are behind me on this. So ready now for surgery next month. I think it's so crucial to have a support system of some sort even if it's a friend and not family. I know everyone in my life will not be as supportive but thankful for the ones who are. Have any of you decided against telling your family? Not really wanting all mine to know
Lee 316 24 Posted March 13, 2013 I only told my immediate family, a bestfriend and my aunt who recommended my surgeon. All have been great support for me. I told my oldest brother and he doesnt want me to get it. The thing with family is that they love you and care and worry so what seems "unsupportive" is them putting their unwanted 2 cents in. I have a large, close family and for all of them to know, oh my god, all of the explaining and reasoning i would have to do! Someone told me that this decision is YOUR decision and NO ONE elses. So its important that the people who know what your going through, know your having it so they can support you and be your biggest cheerleaders during your journey.
