What's your averag weight loss?

Recommended Posts

I know everyone is different, I'm just curious what others average. I have lost 51 pounds since I started the pre op diet to date and my surgery was January 14th. I lost 20 on the diet and 31 with the sleeve.

I feel like I should be losing more and a lot of times I'll stay the same weight for a week then all the sudden five pounds will just drop off. I'm so grateful for every pound lost, I guess I just anticipated the loss to be more steady rather than sporadic so I'm just curious what others have experienced.

Sdonovan78 at least your losing and your scale is moving. I had surgery on 2/19, 2 days after surgery I weighed 255 a week later I weighed 264 and this past Sunday morning I weighed 256. The most calories ive had in a day since surgery was 700 Im getting in all my liquids most days and been averaging between 60 & 80 grams of Protein a day. Im so frustrated with myself, makes me sad to think this isn't going to work for me espically since they removed 85% of my damn stomach :{ I know ive lost something because people who know & didnt know I had surgery have commented that ive lost weight and a couple pairs of pants fit differently. But I want to see it on the damn scale too or im going to get rid of it and just weigh once a month at Dr apt.

If anyone has any words of wisdom I'd be open to it. Thanks in advance in taking the time to read this :}

Mini,

It is probably best to get rid of your scale, it is only making you frustrated. The weight will come off, it might take a little time. Remember you didnt put all that weight on at one time. Keep positive and dont stress just keep doing what you are.

Sdonovan

You are losing very fast, you have lost more weight than me and I was sleeved12/4/12. If you are having a stall it is just your body catching up with the weightloss.

Start doing your measurements and keep writing them down everytime you stall and you will see the difference. Also take a picture of yourself every week or two and compare them. You will see the difference there as well. Good luck to you both. We are here for your support.

Thanks, it helps to see what others have experienced since surgery. I think I'm still stuck in my old head. I was never able to stick to diets and I always lost a bit then completely stopped and then regained. I'm just waiting for that to happen. I feel like this surgery should also come with a weekly therapy session!

@Leeann71, its frustrating me because I am eating 700 calories a day, I know for sure my b4 surgery calories were way higher and the week after surgery I gained weight. I cant even wrap my head around how thats even possible to gain. I see all these stories of people losing 10, 15, 20 the 1st month after surgery and I gain. just a little frustrating to me but I will get thru it im sure.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
