Had mine march 8 also.Today was the first time i was able to keep down anything but Water. Had some Tomato Soup and am now working on a Protein Shake. I am craving tuna salad. And ya, the first couple days were bad. I even was wishing i hadnt done it. I was in hospital until Sunday night. I wasnt using hardly any pain meds. I thought i would feel better quicker if i wasnt doped up. Plus they really knock me out. But i gave in yesterday. Between the pain meds and nausea meds, i am much better today, even if i am sleeping most of it away!

I had mine a day before you ladies. March 7th. Day 5 for me is today and it has been the turning point. I feel really good. Gas pains in my back and shoulders have subsided to a minimum. I think I want to try so some creamy Soup a little later. I was feeling like a knot in my chest everytime I swallowed - between my breast bone and that has gone too. So I am getting in way more liquids.< /p>

I was sleeved on the 8th. I pray the pain when I swallow will go away soon. I'm def not getting enough liquids in. I went in for surgery on Friday the 8th and didn't come home till Monday afternoon. Had some terrible nauseousness. Starting to feel pretty week, haven't had anything bit Powerade zero and sugar free Popsicles.

Hi all, I'm new to this, too. Had my surgery on March 7, and really no big problems. I made sure they kept giving me anti-nausia medicine in the hospital and they gave me a perscription for pain and anti-nausia to go home with. However, haven't had to open them at all. I had the pain between the breasts off and on - guess it is heart burn for a couple of days, but nothing really bad. Love Fruitopia yogurt (peach or the strawberry) with the unflavored Protein added. Actually had broccoli and cheese Soup yesterday at Panera bread. I had 1/2 cup while there an the other half about 2-3 hours later. Let's hang in there!

That's too funny! I was sleeved on the 8th also, and for some reason the thing I'm really looking forward to eating when I can is tuna! I like tuna, but never thought it would be the thing I was looking forward to.

Seeing all these issues with swallowing, I'm actually a little concerned that I don't have any. Fluids are going down pretty easily. I'm still drinking slow, but could drink faster if I wanted. My doctor fixed a fairly large hiatal hernia, so maybe that has actually helped my swallowing? I don't know.

I was sleeved march 8 too!! I'm feeling good, I'm getting about 20-30 oz of fluids. I ate cream of chicken this morning, watered down. And then I had about 1 teaspoon of sugar free pudding for lunch. It just weird because I can't tell when I'm full, or even when I'm hungry. I feel alot of bubbling like, gas, just not sure if its hunger or gas. Lol.

Oh, I definitely feel like the hard part was the first 24 hours. Things get better and easier every day. I'm loving chicken or beef broth. I'm not liking the taste of my Protein shakes (I liked them before surgery), but am forcing them down.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
