Yes, I used ALighterme to schedule my surgery. My coordinator was Rhonda, but I also spoke with and ended up meeting Janice. I had my surgery in Tijuana Mexico with Dr. Alejandro Lopez, and Dr. Ortiz at Mi hospital. Feel free to PM me or ask any questions. I had a great experience and would highly recommend them :)

yes many use alighterme or Ready4Achange to co-ordinate their surgeries. I had mine with Dr Garcia in Tijuana Mexico co-ordinated by ready4achange.

Did you guys chose the sleeve surgery? If so how was your experience going there? I had mine in Acuna Mexico but its cheaper in Tijuana so she is looking into having it done there.

I did have the sleeve. TJ was not half as bad as I imgined it would be. I actually live about 5 minutes from teh Border in AZ, and most of our border towns are no where near as nice and clean. With ALighterMe, I stayed at the Marriott which seemed to be pretty centrally located. There was a Walmart in a neat plaza about 3 blocks away and there was a casino. I didn't feel like doing too much more exploring thatn that. I was able to get a taxi too and from Wal Mart for about 4 bucks, but one time I just walked there it wasn't bad. All of the chicken broth and popsicles from the hotel were free. The hotel was nice. Mi hospital was really clean, I had a room I shared with my mom who came with me for my surgery, and the hospital room had a private bathroom with shower. I would be happy to tell you all about my experience, and your friend too if either of you would like more details just ask!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
