hi everyone,

I am a recent sleever, currently living in Thailand. I had my VSG on the 18th of February by a wonderful surgeon, and I am receving tremendous support from my nutritionist as I work through the post-op diet. I had minimal complications (that I am aware of), and I as home within 2 days after surgery.

I decided to join the forum for some moral support, as Thailand currently does not have the neccesary support system post-op, yet.

I have a question I am hoping someone could help me figure out.

I started the whole journey at 104kg, and lost 6kg pre-op, left the hospital after surgery at 100kg(I did not urinate much for 1000mg of IV for 2 days) and went down to 92kg within 2 weeks(I think it was all Water weigh, though)

I've been on the post-op diet regime for the past 3 weeks, eating average of 600-700cal and 50-60gm of Protein per day. I've also recently gotten back to the gym for light cardio.

However, it seems I have not lost any weigh for the past 1 week! It just seems strange to not lose anything with such low calories consumption! Have I hit the starvation mode button on my body?

Any help, thoughts, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Sawasdee-ka! ;) You may have hit a stall, not it's not unusual, most people talk about the 3 week, 3 month and 6 month 'dreaded' stalls which are quite common, but you can hit a stall at any time unfortunately, it's basically your body getting adjusted to the big drops you've made. You may hear people talking about 'stair step' loss, it's basically where you will lose A LOT then nothing....A LOT then nothing...it's very common for this type of surgery. So early out, don't worry so much about the calories as you do about getting liquid and Protein in. Shoke-dee, na!

krob khun kaa! I am thankful for the opportunity to have a tool that will help me take control of my weigh problem. I have never been more committed to doing something in my life. It just seems so strange that all that hard work would have not made a difference. But, one day at a time, and it's only the beginning!

I just hope I am not the one person on the planet that will not lose any weigh after being stuck on a deserted island for years!

Are you in Thailand too? Great to hear someone speak the language!

I am not in the Land of Smiles any longer :( I lived there for 5 years though, and am fully fluent. I Kitung Thailand mach mach ;) I visit as often as I can. Where are you located? I used to live in BKK off of Silom Soi5, then I moved and lived for several years also off Ekkamai Soi11 off Sukhumvitt. Did you have surgery in Thailand? PM me!

I don't have any advice, but I wanted to say a) it's awesome to see people casually using another language on here, and B) could you translate for those of us following the conversation? I don't trust Babelfish. ;)

Devichan- ;) We were typing in a very archaic form of Tinglish (Thai-English) Thai actually is similar to chinese writing in that it is a series of characters. Babelfish would no doubt say any number of things ;) I first said Hello, สวัสดี, (sawasdee) and good luck, โชคดี, (shoke-dee) ka and na are added at the end of phrases to show politemess and respect from women, krahb is polite for men to use ending their words and thoughts. PostalPatz then said Thank you, ขอบคุณ, (krob khun). The Land of Smiles or LOS is often used to describe Thailand, and I told her I miss, คิดถึง, (kitung) Thailand very much, มากมาก, (mach mach) BKK is short for Bangkok, and Silom and Sukhumvitt are very common streets in the middle of the Thai capital, like Times Square is to New York. A Soi is like a side street, or a small alley way. The streets are set up with many off shoots named by number, Soi 1, Soi 2, etc. I hope that helps หวังว่าจะช่วยให้คุณ :)

I think I'm about to go through a stall. I've been around 276/275 for the past couple days. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago and have lost a total of 20 pounds since then!

Hi, I think 920Amy is right, I experienced a rapid drop, then it stalled for a week! But, today I managed to lose another kilo (2lbs) finally. Don't despair, I think it is your body's way of dealing with the changes. Sound like you are doing well! I guess it's hard to fathom even a day without some changes, but keeping our eyes on the big picture will keep us going!

Keep doing what you do, and focus on protien and Water intake.

        Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...
