Confused about meals

Recommended Posts

I am 8 weeks post op, I have lost 35 lbs but only 5 in the last 4 weeks. So I email my nutritionist and she tells me to have either a Protein Shake or Greek yogurt for Breakfast not both.. and to limit my Snacks till only when I am hungry.

My question is how am I supposed to get 60-80 grams of Protein in if I only eat 3 meals a day and no Protein shakes. And I will be lucky to get 600 calories.

Your weight loss will flucuate. You lost alot right away so don't panic. I do have 5-6 small meals a day. If I have a Protein Shake I don't have yogurt too, that would be way too much food all at once. Split up your foods to have your 6 small meals and don't worry the weight will come off. :D

This is a common concern. The best answer is planning your meals for the day. If you find you are too low on Protein, plan in a Protein Shake. Schedule yourself. You will find you can get more in the further out from surgery you are. Right now it is about teaching yourself how to eat.

I do plan my meals but I can only eat so much at a time, she wants three meals and a Protein Shake would be Meal Replacement. I was having my shake at 6 and yogurt at 9...

Sounds about right for where you are. Really. Don't stress. Enjoy not being hungry with your tiny meals.

Decaf coffee seems to have broken my 10 day stall. I have had three cups and each time was practically running to the bathroom.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
