I had to go to hospital-long

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody,

I just have to tell you about my traumatizing experience.

Ok yes Im stressed cause this week I have been to work everyday for 14hours, so it might be due to stress as well.

Yesterday I had for lunch some fresh chicken breasts steak and frenchfries...I dont eat french fries on regular basis but I just had them. After few bites I fell that something is stuck. I thought it would be the normal case - golfball- but after three hours of trying to vomit and lots of sliming it didnt go away. The last thing I tried was to drink a glass of water...it was even worse and I felt like my esphagus is going to burst.

Well then I started to vomit the water.I called the hospital and they asked me to come right away. So I did, Im not gonna describe the journey to hospital, but the cab driver wasnt probably very happy that he had to drive me..lol

I came there they unfilled that 1cc that I had in my 10cc band, but it didnt help so they made the the gastroscopy. Let me tell you they had to do it three times without any aenesthisia....I was crying like a baby. I threw up the food first two times and the third time they checked if my band is ok.My band is fine, thank God.

´

I had to stay in the hospital over the night, cause they wanted to check up on me and to make sure I drink enough water...

It was terrible and this is not going to happen ever again! Now Im on liquids for a week and then on mushies for another week like after the surgery...

Oh well I might loose more, but its not very healthy...

I find chicken gives me the same problem.

But as you don't normally eat french fries how unlucky was you that the furst time you do this happens. I mean if i tried to tell my surgeon it was the first time id had them im sure he's think yeah yeah!! what ever.

It is lucky you was able to go in and get the care you needed here in the UK not many people in the emergancy room would have known what to do even to unfill the band its qhite scary really.

Hello Muggle and Jack,

well I ate frnech fries before without any problems and it actually might have been the chicken causing problems...Im not gonna solve that now:-)

Muggle, I went to the hospital where I had the surgery,I called them before and they asked me to come imediatelly, they even have emergency number so if I have any problems I can call them anytime. It is private clinic but all is covered from my insurance so I dont have to pay anything.I guess Im lucky:-)

The Water test was helpful if you cant get water down theres problem:-)An I read about it here at LapBandTalk, thats what pushed me to call them oherwise I would be suffering longer hoping that it would go down.

Jack trust me Im not gonna eat french fries anytime soon:-)

have a good day and thank you for your support :-)

What a terrible experience you had, Eve! Glad you & the band are both O.K. Yours is the first story I've heard involving a trip to the hospital and a gastroscopy.

I went to the hospital where they did the surgery and they specialize in it.No not my surgeon was there but I have met all the docs before so they were fine.I call it Water test, but if you even keep water down its bad and you should go to ER.they did gastroscopy I guess they wanted to see if everything is ok with my band and that way they helped me cause I got rid of everything that was in the pouche and of the stuck food.< /p>

The third time they checked the band and saw that everything is ok:-)

It wasnt like a golfball it was really bad I couldnt almost swallow my own spit, and it didnt go away for like three hours so thats why I decided to call the hospital and they asked me to come there right away...

Hi~

Sorry to hear about what happened. I had a similar experience with a blueberry last summer except that it was lodged for a few days before I went to the doctor. Yes, not too bright in hindsight. I had a complete unfill and it still didn't come out so they had to scope me and pull the sucker back out. I also spent the night in the hospital on IV fluids b/c I was so dehydrated.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
