Help...I'm one week post op, only lost 12 pounds...I'm starving, starting to mourn the loss of food...thinking about what i could be eating if i had not done this....the thought of never being able to eat the 4 courses at my favorite restaurant, the melting pot, again...EVER....or eating much of anything ever again...has me depressed...thinking to myself, omg what.have.i.done. This is irreversable...this is my life now...almost makes me want to cry. I know this sounds so lame..but i love food...what can I say?

I actually did not go through this because I knew what I was in for. With that said. what you are going through is pretty normal actually and will pass in time. I am 6 weeks out and very satisfied with my meal amounts. I actually eat a decent amount of food daily... just have to space it out over 5-6 meals.

Hang in there darlin, I had those same thoughts 2 days after surgery. I was so down & thought omg what have I done, why did I do something so drastic. I kept thinking ill never be able to eat like I used to , which actually brought me alot of comfort and a sense of happiness .but believe me this feeling will pass, everyone's different for me it only lasted a few hours for others it can be a couple of days . The truth is after pured food phase we can eat whatever we want , just in small portions. After all we are supposed to eat to live, not live to eat. I know my thinking used to be live to eat not the other way around. I just loved food and the feelings that came with eating, but 20 years of eating with no control , has made me sick & overweight . Sorry i started to ramble there!!

Anyway , uour feelings are normal its ok , just remember you will be able to eat your fav foods again just in small portions ? Who knows maybe as your body starts to trim down you may not even crave those foods anymore!

Best of luck , hope you cheer up soon :-)

You'll get over it! I had my omg moment about day 4. Mine was because I wasn't able to hold stuff down. You'll learn food is no longer fun but for nutrition. Now food doesn't have to be boring! I love finding good recipes and tailoring them to my needs! You can still love food but just in 4 oz portions :)

This is a lifestyle change. You dont want to live to eat. You should want to eat to live.I understand the feelings cause I myself had the same 2 days after surgery. It's all mind over matter! You made this decision to get you back on your feet to live a long healthy lifestyle instead of the path of over eating your self and dieing of a heart attack or other obesity related illness. It's just food. And eventually you will be able to eat all the food you used to enjoy just in moderation. You will train your brain to be able to take one bite, enjoy, and then be done. Good luck on your journey and I hope any of this helps with your down moment. Cheer up I am sure it will get easier.

At this stage it is normal to have a mourning period. However, "only dropping 12 pounds" isn't the right attitude to take. Think about the reasons that you had the surgery. Obviously you have made the commitment to get healthy and live a better lifestyle. Down the road, there is no reason that you can enjoy the foods that you are enamored with, you simply won't be able to gorge yourself. It will take a bit of time and some self discipline on your part, but if you remain committed to living longer and healthier and focus on the long term, you won't be in such a bad place.

Good luck - Stay focused.

12 pounds in 1 week, how wonderful. A fun thing I like to do is go to my closet and start trying on clothes. Always makes me feel better. I have a suit that I haven't been able to wear since 2008. Felt wonderful to finally be able to button that blazer.

Just to let you know I was sleeved weeks ago and have yet to hit that 12lb mark. I've lost about 8lbs. (I lost about 48lbs before I was sleeved. So I will loose at a slower rate.) And I do miss my morning lattes.

Take a moment to be happy about 12lbs, Celebrate it.

I'm three weeks post op and I feel the same way. I want my stomach back. I want to be able to eat a salad or a piece of pizza. I can't believe I willingly did this to myself and I can't talk to anyone because I wanted this surgery so bad.

Everyone says these feelings will pass and in a few months I will be thrilled. I'm holding on to that. Instead of looking back, or even forward, I'm trying to focus on healing and what my body needs right now.

I am week and a half post op and I too have the same feelings.I think we are still healing and things will get better in time. We have to heal the mind, body and soul.Whats most frustrating for me is I can only eat a tsp or two then my pouch starts to hurt hoping it time it will get better.

I lost 11 lbs my first week and thought that was great, so...

I'm a week and a half out and I have thoughts lily these. Fortunately they are temporary and i can think rational after that. I LOVE food. but that's stupid. My love if food is what got me to this point. So I also HATE FOOD. because I have no self control over it.

These first few weeks are hell. I'm having a hard time getting my liquid in and I've had to go back to Clear liquids because shakes hurt My sleeve. No sense in regret. This is where we are and we gotta soldier on. It will get better.

I was sleeved on 3/4 and totally understand the struggle. I'm doing well getting Soup, pudding and liquids down. It's the Protein that is my nemesis. Its so hard to get down. Tried getting as much in this morning as possible to get it over with... Also I'm like ridiculously fatigued. Taking a shower wipes me out. I'm going back to work next week and am scared. Anyone else still this tired?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
