Ok.. I'm sooooo sooooo sooooo scared of dying. I have twin girls. What if I die?? I've literally been writing a "if you're reading this, I'm gone" letter. I'm so scared. AND I get sleeved on the 18th. My insurance runs out the end of this month (husband got a new job). What if something goes wrong?? I'm freaking out. Someone talk me off the edge, tell me this is normal, and I can do this. :(

This is absolutely normal. But your making the right choice! Your adding ten or more years to your life. So keep those letters and never let them see the light of day!

I have 8 year old twin girls. The other night they came for a 5k jog / walk with me. The other day we went ice skating for 4 hours. I'll be around now to see my grandkids.

This is one of the best things I've ever done. For them and for myself.

Mine are 22 mo. I guess I just can't see leaving them without their Mommy. I've had sooooo many obstacles to get to my surgery date and I keep thinking, "were they signs I shouldn't be having it?" Or is it a signing should because I've overcome them all.

Hang in there. I have twin girls also they are 22yrs old. Try your hardest to keep yourself positive. You will be ok, cause God knows those babies need their momma and their momma needs them. Remember always why you have chose to do this, and I assume to be there for your girls their whole life, and having this surgery will prolong your health and life. You are goona be ok and yes these are normal feelings not knowing the what ifs. Take care of yourself and try to stay positive, this is probably one of the most important decision in your and their lives. Keep us updated we can help you along the way. God bless

I feel/ felt the same way!!!! I am waiting for "MY DATE!" We feel this way for several reasons, one is our family. I have two boys ages 14 & 12! I want to see my grandchildren thats why I am doing this and for many other health related prevention issues! Secondly I believe since this is a surgery that we are choosing that makes it more scary, for me at least!!! Think about it if this was life saving heart surgery we had to have I don't think I would be as afraid!!! I still would be but I would know I needed to have the heart surgery! SOME OF US IF NOT ALL OF NEED THIS SURGERY!!!! It's the fact that WE ARE CHOOSING IT!!! That is scary!!! Yes we can not get it but then look at our CONTINUED QUALITY OF LIFE!!! We will be fine!!! God bless you!!! ;)

Your feelings are normal. I know it doesn't feel good and I understand as I am a Mom as well. I had surgery on a cancellation. So I had 24 hour notice. I wrote my daughter a letter and placed it in my sock drawer in the vent I passed away, but didn't tell anyone about this letter. Writing the letter was hard no doubt, but it was good to know my thoughts were out.

I didn't die. I survived surgery and a leak. During my leak I wasn't sure I was going to live. I told my husband and mom about the letter.

Leaks are very rare and dying is even more rare. You can do this, but confront your feelings head on!! You will be okay!!! Hang in there!! I know this is hard!!

Wishing you wellness!

Sannah

This is normal. I have a 5 year old daughter, single mom. I will be sleeve in May and kinda have this thought at least once a week. I've done the if I'm gone letter, the will, and custody if I die (bc I want my father to have custody instead of her horrible father). This is normal, and I talk myself out of the death scares lol. Just imagine the beautiful life your going to have with your children, and how not only you but your whole family will benefit from this change.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
