I don't know if I should be happy or sad that my monthly is 6 days late. I had surgery on 2/11 and lost a good amount, 31lbs to be exact. I figure it is the extreme amount of weight loss that has caused my hormones to go all Britney Spears on me. Did anyone have that issue with there first AF after surgery? The "B" is usually like clock work 27-29 days, never 34. I have been cramping for the past week but that's it.

Yes, I can't remember if it was one or two weeks late, but my first one was definitely late. Completely normal.

My first one was late after surgery but.... I found out I was pregnant. I am 7 mos post op and 7 mos pregnant. I got pregnant a week after surgery. I had an IUD and still ended up pregnant. I figured I was late because of surgery and the drastic changes my body was facing. Never even thought to take a pregnancy test until morning sickness began. I don't want to scare you, but if this keeps up please take a test to be sure.

Mine started early after surgery (which I guess is pretty common according to my PA), which isn't necessarily what I would have picked during the peak rehab time. My next one came exactly 28 days later and amazingly, the cramps aren't too bad (so relieved, since we have to stay off the NSAIDs for a while). I think our hormones do get all wonky from the fat burning and release of estrogen stores, plus the "trauma" to your body from the surgery. Hopefully things will even out for you soon!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
