Has anyone used one? It's on my post op paperwork but no one in the hospital mentioned that I should use it.

Hi,

Trust me i am not sure why they didnt mention it but it helped me during my first month of post op. I was in so much pain everytime i moved and its hard to sleep especially if you are a side sleeper. I say invest in one just to eliminate the pain where the surgeon removes stomach.

Best regards

Where can you buy an abdominal binder? Is one better than another brand? Can I use spanxs as a substitute?

I am very curious about this as well. I am one day out and I could see how a rap would be nice. I've had a pillow that I've kept on my stomach to help relieve the pain but can't walk around with a pillow lol.

I got mine from Walgreens. I just put it on and I feel soooo much better. My back feels like its being supported. I was nervous at first so I waited until I left my primary care doctors office. She highly recommends it. I'm a week post op! My boyfriend purchased it for me but I'm sure it didn't cost more than $10-$15.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
