Just take it slow. Lettuce is on the more difficult things to digest. I started with iceburg lettuce, then slowly added romain over several weeks until I used no iceburg at all. Then, I started adding spinich the same way.

I have always loved salads and are a mainstay of my menu.

Hey Pdx, I know I'm pre-op and the following comment is not helpful to the OP, but I follow you and just adore you (and generally agree with everything you post) so grant me one unhelpful excited exclamation?! ;)

I miss salad so much!! And am so glad to hear that the sleeve doesn't make it impossible. For 10 years, my band has prevented me from eating salad (and raw veggies ... The list goes on lol). I'm glad to hear that you are able to eat it!! When I would lose on my own, it was a mainstay of my diet and now have it to look forward to again!!! :)

Ok, I'm done ;) lol

I am about 6 weeks out. I am not allowed any kind of salad as of right now for the reason that PDX man stated. It is one of the last things to be added back into your diet. Corn, asparagus and raw celery are also no-no's right now.

I started eating salads with all the raw veggies at 8 weeks. I didn't have any trouble with it.

Thanks for the responses. I've done raw carrots no problem. I think I'll go for it! Stay tuned... ;)

I cannot have any veggies at all until the three month mark. The theory is that Protein is most important - 4 ounces of meat, fish, eggs or low fat cheese - three times a day - 60 grams protein. After three months I can add 1 serving of vegetables a day. At six months, I add 1 fruit. At nine months, one fat-free dairy (skim milk or yogurt). At one year, IF I've lost 75% of the excess weight, one starch per day.

Mine was. It's to focus on Protein. Now I'm 3 months out and 4 meals a day with 3 oz Protein 1 oz fruit or veg. Trust me 1 oz of spinach leaf is alot

Whoo hoo! I have a fan club of 1. Hey, you gotta start somewhere.

I think your post would be very helpful to the OP. It is on topic and shows them there are other people in the same boat.

Post on, girl.

Just want to echo lilbearzmom ... HUH? Really?

How are you supposed to get any good carbs in? I'm not saying they didn't tell you this, but you just may want to double check with them. It has been my experience personally and from reading the boards that people will suffer from fatigue big time if they cut carbs out of their meals.

As was explained to me by my team, the sleeve is going to restrict our intake. Our job is to eat well balanced meals to get all of the nutrition our bodies need. I was to eat regular meals which contain a healthy balance of nutrition. The sleeve would take care of the quantity. I have been doing what was suggested and have been at goal and maintaining for exactly one year next week.

Hmmm ... time to start a new thread.

Lettuce ... YUM! Add a little tuna, maybe some blue cheese crumbles ... artichoke hearts, honey mustart dressing ... oh, yeah, now we're talking. I know what I'm having for dinner tonight.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
