I am 2 weeks after surgery and starting soft foods per the doc's okay. The deal is, I have no appetite, I'll get a little hungry, but nothing really sounds good so I'll have a few spoonfuls of mashed potatoes or some Beans and then I am done. I've had a few cravings, not so much for specific foods, but tastes - ike sour, or textures - like creamy. I'll have something to answer those cravings and then I'm over it and not hungry.

This is a very new sensation for me and it's a little scary, but good - right?

Anyone having the same feelings?

I went through the same thing. It's normal, it's gonna take you a few weeks to get a little more in. Just make sure to keep hydrated. Congrats on you journey!

SO normal!! I was the same exact way. I loved not being hungry (I understand it being a little scary because it's so weird!). It's very good! :) Take care!

Feeling the same way. It's nuts to feel no hunger. My tummy will get chatty if its empty for too long. But little "food" and it will quite down for several hours. I have to pay attention to the clock and make myself eat.

Crazy... :-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
