Please Help! 4 Weeks Post VSG & Stalled

Recommended Posts

I had my VSG surgery on Feb. 12.

I had lost 20 pounds pre-op (from Aug. 2012 till surgery) and have lost another 12 since surgery. I'm thinking the 12 # is low? Now I've been stalled at the same weight for almost a week. Is this stall normal and if it is do you have any suggestions to get things going again?

I did add in soft foods about 1-1/2 weeks ago, but no real solids for a few more weeks per doctor and nutritionist. Can you all share what you were eating at 4 weeks post op?

Thanks!!

When I saw my doctor 3 weeks after surgery, he told me he did not expect me to lose more than 12 pounds. The heavier you are to start, the more you will take off during that time. Here are my stats: I am 47 year old female. 5' 2". HW 257. SW 241. CW 221. I lost 16 pre op and 20 so far post op. I was sleeved 2/4.

Three week stall is the norm. Search three week stall on here. There are tons of threads. A lot of them have tips on what people did to try and break their stalls. Also what worked and what didn't.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
