Can you feel a band even? I know sorry a stupid question I'm just still new to all this and want to get this all down before 12/15 when I meet with a dr.

Once you are healed you will not even feel the port. It is so far under your skin that only if you push really hard you will feel it.

Can't feel a thing! Maybe when I get a little thinner I can feel my port but right now I can't. It is a strange feeling, all right!

I can feel my port if I put my hand there, now I'm almost at goal its very easy but it doesnt show. There's no discernable bump there. If I lean into something like the kitchen bench and hit my port it might be uncomfortable and the cat has a terrible habit of standing right on it when she jumps on me to begin her morning begging for food.< /p>

Sometimes, with very strenuous exercise it can hurt a bit - like a stitch, more of an annoyance, rather than pain. But overall it doesnt bother me at all.

You can't feel the band or the tubing. I can feel my port. It feels somewhat like a nine volt battery has been implanted under my skin.

I sure feel my port...but my surgery weight was 182=was under BMI of 35. The first 2 weeks after surgery I had some port pain but now it just kinda feels like a 9volt battery right under the skin. My kids said it feels gross- but its my reminder of what used to be and what is just ahead for me! BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!

Hello everyone!

I haven't been banded yet so I'm very nervous! I'm more scared about the band around my stomach than the port area. I don't want band erosion or slippage and I don't want to PB...but I wanna lose weight!

My port never bothered me. At first I couldn't find it, was afraid to press too hard. But now, since I'm almost at goal, I can see and feel it. Doesn't bother me a bit.

Yesterday I spoke with a patient who we've been seeing for 3 months, who just happened to mention her LB to our receptionist. I had no idea... anyway the receptionist told her I was looking into it also, so I caught up with her yesterday to talk about it. When she showed me her port site and let me feel it, I was really surprised by the size and hardness of it... I guess I expected a little bump, if anything, and that it would be squishy, more like a pliable plastic bulb. My question is... well how do I put this. Does it interfere with um... relations?? ;) It won't stop me from having it done, but that would stink LOL... Thanks!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
