How does it feel with the port under your skin?

Recommended Posts

My port is on the side of my stomach! Not in the front like normal. Right the longest cut is the port? I think it is it bc it is black, blue and yellow. I just got banded on the 26th. I don't know about feeling my port but I will be gland when I can feel those bones in my chest/neck area again:)

I did not notice the port for a while, but now that I am nearing my goal-77.5 so far-goal is 85 I can now feel it and see it. I have felt pulling at times, but the only main problem I have had is that I cannot wear an underwire bra. It really hurts alot when I do . The port is right where the wire sits. This may only be a problem for me as I am only 5ft tall. My surgeon said that the port will move lower as time goes on I am 8 months post op, but so far its not moved enough.

I am only 2 weeks out and I can feel mine and see a big lump there. it feels heavy like i'm pregnant. I feel it pull when I stand up straight. weird. but as time goes on I feel it less and less. It's much less noticable this week than it was last.

I can't feel my port at all. I really have to lay down and search for it. I have the low profile, that may be the difference. You can ask for that when you have your surgery. I would.

I am three days post banding and I actually feel like a fist is around my insides - a little uncomfortable. I also still have pain when I move. But I cant feel the actual port. Since I am only 3 days post I am sure this will get better. But you may feel some discomfort right after the procedure. When did eeveryone else stop feeling the discomfort???

I think I'm a total weirdo. I haven't had any "port pain" at all since surgery and I have no idea where it is! Some folks have had trouble wearing a bra because of port pain, but I haven't had any problem with mine so far. The only spot that has bothered me a little bit is the longest surgical scar I have. The other four sites are small and they are already just about healed.

I am about 4 yrs post op and I can feel my band now worse than ever. It irritates me often, although it did not in the first few years. I am very active with spinning, kickboxing, yoga, pilates, ect. I often feel pain during these workouts.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
