Hi!!! I've been having trouble to sleep since I got my sleeve feb 16th. I want to take melatonin 10 mg so I can get back on schedule on my sleeping. Has anyone else taken this before? I don't know if we can or not?

I have taken it on occassion and was fine, but as with most things, consult your surgeon or PCP.

I have taken it many times. It helped me overcome the effects of a 3rd shift job and jet lag.

It will give you vivid dreams, some folks can't dig that, I just go along with the ride. There is sublingual melatonin that will not hurt tummy.

I've been taking melatonin as needed for a few years. Ever since my lap band I've had insomnia. Early on I think it was from the weight loss and now more from the discomfort that comes with the complications, but I usually take it a couple times a week and I use the sublingual. Dissolves quickly and mine is strawberry flavored (I found it at Walmart).

My revision isn't until May, but I asked about whether I could use it after surgery still and was told that after the first two weeks it would be perfectly fine, but I would definitely check with your surgeon to be safe!! They all have different plans and you should stick with your docs! :)

I'll try to just go along with the ride as well. Wow sublingual melatonin didn't see any there but I'd live that better that the pill. Where did u buy yours?

I know for a fact that you can get the sublingual tabs at Walmart. Comes in a purple bottle if I remember correctly. :)

They do! The brand is Natrol and they are called "fast dissolve" on the pretty purple bottle ;) I have found the fast dissolve in 3 and 10mg tabs at my local Walmart!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
