Did everyone hve to give up caffiene?

Recommended Posts

This is what I'm dreading. I'll admit, I'm a caffeine addict. I drink maybe 2-6 cups a day, plus a few diet sodas. I need since I sleep horribly. Did everyone have to give up caffeine? I only had to see my nutritionist once, and he's so anti surgery that he was being an ass during the whole thing so he didn't tell me.

I can't have caffine for at least 6 weeks, haven't asked beyond that point. I can have coffee or tea, but Decaf.< /p>

I did. Although according to my post-op plan, iI was a allowed coffee after 2 weeks. But in will tell you, despite the fact I was a total caffeine addict, too,,,I am 6 weeks out and I have not started drinking it again. It just feels amazing to not have any vices, you know? Plus in have been sleeping so much better without caffeine.

My surgeon gave me the greenlight for coffee at 3.5 weeks. The most I tolerate is two cups

After about 4 weeks, I tried a little coffee, had no problems. I don't worry about caffeine anymore. I have to put so much splenda and Creamer in mine that I get teased about putting a little coffee in my creamer! I really don't like the taste of coffee.

So, I usually take 1/2 a caffeine pill in the mornings to wake up. I have sleep apnea and if I don't have some caffeine almost every day, I could fall asleep at work.

I to was a coffee addict. I just let the surgery take care of it. Haven't had caffeine since two days before surgery and haven't noticed a thing for 15 days now. Don't dwell on it. Git'er done!!

Nope! I waited 6 weeks and then slowly introduce coffee starting with espresso size and now able to drink latte size. Please consider waiting 6 weeks to let your stomach heal.

Oh I'll definitely do what I'm told, even if that means giving it up forever! I'm just not looking forward to the withdrawal Migraines and having no energy.

Each medical team has different guidelines, I think. My team said no caffeine for 6 months!! We had to be off regular tea & coffee AND Decaf tea & coffee prior to surgery. My NUT said I could have decaf after 3 months post op if there was no nausea or vomiting. I tried decaf coffee on my 3 month anniversary and it just didn't taste the same. I will occasionally have a cup in the am, but not every day because I don't 'love it' like I used to.

I had to give caffeine up one month before surgery and could not have caffeine again until month 3. I could have Decaf but yuck! Good luck!

I'm cutting out caffeine 10 days before surgery so I can take Motrin the first 3 days of withdrawal (have to be off motrin 7 days before surgery). After that I'll use those Starbucks instant Decaf coffee thingies to flavor my shakes. I think my coffee days will sadly be gone. But it's really the cream and sugar I'm addicted to. Hats off to you hardcore coffee lovers who take it black. :)

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
