Not sure how far out you are but I have found the Kellogg's high fiber/protein bars just in the grocery store. They have 10 grams Protein, 7 grams fiber!! They are mostly nuts so I tend to have them as a snack and they are delicious!!

Quest bars seem to be the best for me. I like the Cinnamon Roll, Mixed fruit, and chocolate Brownie flavors.. Although the chocolate Brownie flavor makes me want a glass of milk! Haha. They are 20g Protein and 17g Fiber (and gluten free). Plus if you go to their site and email them asking for samples, they'll mail them to you for free :)

I don't tolerate the Protein drinks well for some reason so I mainly have to rely on the bars. As far as the gas goes I haven't had a problem.. Since I was sleeved Dec 6, I have trouble going to the bathroom lol, so the Fiber really helps me. I hope this was helpful!

Quest bars are good. I like think thin bars and pure Protein revolution bars. Pretty much my staple protein bars.

Do you worry about all the carbs in the Protein bars?

I get the bars from Costco... they have a chocolate fudge and a Peanut Butter kind. They are yummy... no gas side effects.

I'm seeing a lot of suggestions for different kinds of Protein bars. I was told only whey protein isolate. I've found many kinds with whey protein but only a few with the whey protein isolate, Quest being one of them. Is everyone told the isolate only, or is it just depending on your doctor?

I was not told that

If nutritional value is on point, whey Protein won't matter vs isolate. Isolate is nutritionally better for you because it's derived from a more pure form, but whey is still good to go in my book as long as the values aren't crazy off.

Quest bars and Cliff bars were my go to bars before surgery and will be when I'm cleared for whole foods.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
