Freaking out about pain.

Sooooo.. I'm having my surgery on the 18th (of March). I guess I was under the impression I would be ok after a day or 2. I have twin girls that are 22 months, and well have no help after my 3Rd day post op. Is this reasonable or should I reschedule for a time when ill have more help?

Yikes! I didn't even go home from the hospital until my 3rd day post op! I honestly could not have taken care of 2 toddlers until a week post op. not trying to scare you. Your energy is low, and moving around is slow. It might be hard to keep up with the little ones! :-(

You won't be able to lift them. So they'll have to be able to get into and out of things like their cribs, highchairs, or bath tub on their own (or with minimal help from you). I also have to point out that if something happened to one of them, like a fall or whatever, you wouldn't be able to carry them. My nephew is 24months and loves crawling on me, that wouldn't go over well on Day 3 either.

By Day 3 you will be able to walk around, I found stairs to still be easy, carry out normal tasks like showering, light cooking/dishes, but even at Day 3 I was worried about how the way I slept would impact my incisions. I also only had 2 incisions, not 5 like most people. There's also a mental aspect to being post op with greif and anxiety too where it might be nice to have an adult to talk with (but the boards are here for support too). For me, I was constantly worrying about drinking and getting in enough fluids which is huge because dehydration is such an awful side effect. So if you go ahead with surgery, make sure that you prioritize your Water.

Its your call. You know your girls and your life style better than anyone. 3 days post op, I wouldn't have gone back to my desk job where I talk and type all day. I imagine your day is much more active than mine.

You need help. That soon after surgery you need to be taking care of yourself plus children require time and patience which you may be short on.

it might be difficult with no help, especially since you sill most likely be put on a lifting restriction. Genreally it's nothing more than 10 lbs for the first 3 weeks, then it goes up some. I have a 5 year old and luckily my husband has been pulling mommy duty as well cuz all i've been doing is sleeping and walking around the house. Well, and dreaming of eggs and toast. i'd talk to you doctor let them know this and see what they have to say.

Yeah, you need a LOT of help! My doctor wont let me lift anything heavier than 5 pounds for the first 4 or 5 weeks! I tried to use a pineapple corer today, and even the slightest bit of pressure hurts (6 days post-op!). You have to remember, you'll have all sorts of stitches where they go in for the laproscopic surgery, not to mention all the sutures in your stomach. you tear those and you are in SERIOUS trouble!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
