please help it hurts to eat anything

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. Please help me. Here is what is going on. On Sunday I had an issue with some pizza getting stuck, this is the first time thats happened to me. I ended up sliming that day since then it hurts to eat and almost everything gets stuck. I didn't think my band was to tight I was filled almost two weeks ago, so the stuck happened a week after the fill.

I am wondering what I should do here. This is great for my weight loss but I am starting to feel a little weak. Let me know if anyone has a thought. Thanks

Jodi

Your stoma is inflamed from the PB'ing. Stop trying to eat any solids and only eat liquids or very soft mushies. Luckily it's Thanksgiving...mashed taters only please!

You have to give your tummy a chance to heal. If you can, get some aloe vera juice asap. It helps dang near immediately with swelling. I swear it's the wonder cure (read about it here on LBT, can't take credit for it).

Just rest the stoma and it will calm down. If after having liquids and aloe for a few days you are still having trouble, you'll need to get an unfill. You can't live like this. I know, I tried. Miserable!

Hi

so sorry you are uncomfortable! Try starting your day with some hot tea or such and stay on mushies and liquid for a few days, it will get better! To make sure you still get a lot of Protein, I would reccommend cottage cheese, lentle Soup, and Kefir (probiotic yogurt). Good luck, and try to enjoy some of the softer foods for thankgiving today.....

It does sound like you are inflamed! I'm so sorry, but I would go with the soft foods for a few days until you've been able to settle down.

You are swollen. You need ot do liquids for 24-48 hours. Anytime you have a slime or PB you need to rest your esophagusand stoma and do liquids for 24-48 hours or you will start a vicious cycle of eatingthen PBing. I know thisfirst hand. I had a horrible PB and did not listen to my doctors instructions, continued to eat the next day, I eventually had the worst case of esophagits ever. It was very painful. I had done so much damage I had to do liquids for 2 weeks.

I can't eat thick breads and I especially cant eat any bread without toasting it. Its pita bread for me. pizza with a thick base is totally out! Sometimes I can manage one with a thin flaky base.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
