You guys are suffering from head hunger. It feels so real' date=' but it's not. And liquids will not make you feel full. Once you start on solid foods, believe me the feeling of fullness will come very quickly and easily. Until you get to that point, yeah it's tough. But just think how skinny you're going to be this time next year. It will make it all worth while.

And for those of you thinking you're not losing fast enough....SMH!!! 10 pounds in 2 weeks....that's fast enough. Don't compare your numbers to other people's losses. The weight will come off if you follow the plan. Be strong and soon this tough time will be a distant memory.[/quote']

Thanks for the motivation :)

I don't know that this will be a popular reply to this question, but here's the truth anyway. I am 1 week post op. The Dr told me Clear Liquids for 2 weeks, puree for 2 more weeks, and then to soft foods.

I don't like clear liquids. They suck. I started eating some yogurt on about day 4. No problems. Yesterday I ate some cream of wheat and felt much better. Today my entire family went to a restaurant. I went to the buffet and put some mashed potatoes, green Beans, baked chicken, and macaroni on my plate. I took tiny little bites and chewed everything to death. I probably ate about an ounce and a half of food. I feel much better having had something and I do not feel sick or too full. Tomorrow I plan on taking two or three bites of soft scrambled eggs. No it's not on the plan. I tend to think that everyone tolerates things on an individual level. A little common sense and listening to the signs your body gives you will go a long way in determining what you can eat and when.

Just saying.

Sharon....I've seen this approach quite a few times before and many times the result is a person 6-8 months post op with no restriction, always hungry and gaining weight. I'm not trying to be mean but I've heard it several times and I hate to see it happen to anyone. You may feel fine now. But you don't want to go through this for nothing. I could turn out to be wrong in this case, I hope I am.

They can compare their numbers to mine.. Here ladies.. I'm one week out and I've lost ZERO pounds! Feel better? :-P

To me going off plan even by just a little is a slippery slope. I think it's just a much better idea to follow the plan your doctor gave you. I mean, I feel AWESOME. I drank 80 ounces of Fluid at one day out, I feel like my sleeve is healing really well, but I can't see what is really happening inside so I'm just going to stick with the plan my doctor gave me and that is what I would advise anyone who asked if I would suggest advancing early.

Now, I'm a fattie inside and I WANT TO EAT! I just made my nephew a burrito and I really wanted to sneak a spoonful of Beans.. but I'm a week early for that so I did restrain myself. I have found watching food porn and researching new recipes to be helpful. I'm not joking. I have been watching episodes of Diners, Drive in's and Dives and I don't know I found that it kind of satisfied my head hunger.

:} thank you so much for this! Lol I'm 6 days away, not starving on the liquid diet, but BORED to death on it so I don't even want to bother eating at all.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
