Does anyine know how long we are supposed to stay away from caffine?

I asked my NUT if the coffee chike Protein was ok because I had ordered their sample pack and really liked that flavor and she said that was not on plan.... But surely caffeine is not banned forever so does anyone know?

I think different doctors will say different things, or so I am seeing that through many posts on here. My doctors plan allows me to drink coffee/tea after passing the clear liquid phase. I have had no problems with drinking it either.

Agree that all doctors have their own reasons. In general, it is good to wait until 6 weeks out when you are past a lot of the healing. For reference, I started out with an expresso size at 6 weeks, then advanced to a Cappuccino size and now am comfortable with a latte size or a regular cup every day after 5 months. Currently at 8 months.

Kind of what I was thinking.... I have to see this particular NUT 4xs pre op but never post op per my insurance.... This NUT is picked by my doc but I really don't like some of the things she says (like that I will never be able to eat Breakfast again for my whole life only Protein shakes) so I plan on seeing another one post op to get some additional ideas/ information. I'm not really understanding why the coffee Protein Shake is a supposed no-go pre op either... I am still a couple months away from surgery

Every Doc and NUT has different ideas. The main reasons they want us to stay away from caffine, is because for many people, it can be a hunger stimulant. Also, being a duiretic, it can cause you to easily get dehydrated when we are at a point (especially early on) when we need to be extra concious of getting our liquids in and not getting dehydrated. Another reason is because the acidity of straight coffe can irritate or enflame the suture line, and cause you pain and discomfort. I found for myself, personally, I'm fine drinking caffinated things now, but when I was within the first month, coffee upset my sleeve. I also like the chike coffee drink. There are a couple other ones out there also. I'm not saying to completely disregard your NUT or Dr. but be sensible, and do what feels right for your body. Everyone is different. Good luck on your journey!

I gave up a lot of things very willingly. The hardest was carbonated drinks. Especially diet Coke and beer. Sugar was easier. I had no coffee for about 4 weeks, then tried Decaf for another 2-3 weeks. Now I'm enjoying 1-2 cups of regular coffee during weekdays. No issues. Love it.

I am fine giving up coffee/caffeine for surgery and post op for a while and forever even if I find that it bothers me, but honestly once I am back to working overtime when I am post op I generally rely on that little boost getting up at 2 am for work on certain days.... I just really hope it's only for a short while

Good to know that it will probably just be for a while and not forever

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
