I didn't think I would be one to cheat! Ugh. Total regret. Im only day two of a puny 5 day clear liquid diet and I cheated!!! Wow. Pretty ridiculous. I ate 2 small, but fattening frozen burritos. Lord have mercy what am I doing....

Surgery on the 14th. Hopefully not cancelled.

Lay into me. I can handle it.

Hey now, you are being very hard on yourself. Go a little easier. First and foremost, you have to really love yourself to make it through these tough times. And as the consummate self-loather, I know how hard that can be. But certainly part of this battle is not beating yourself up.

We all break the rules once in a while. And I find that these artificially (as opposed to physically enforced due to the sleeve) imposed liquid diets are a lot to handle.

Think about what you felt like before you ate and how you felt while you were eating. Try to learn your own behavioral patterns so you can be on alert for them. Just like I drive more cautiously when the roads are icy, I am more cautious about not exposing myself to food when I'm tired, stressed or bored, etc, or when I'm experiencing certain emotions like frustration.

Love yourself and learn about yourself :)

No need to beat yourself up!

First, I hope you enjoyed the burritos! After surgery you won't be able eat two of those again ...ever.

Second, those burritos are now in the past. You acknowledged that it was not the best choice and are reaching out for support. That's good. It signifies that you have a strong desire to be compliant, but had a moment of weakness. We all have so you are in good company.

Third, take some time with yourself to reflect on your life, history and the reason you are seeking help with vsg. What do you ultimately want? Only you can help yourself get there by making specific, strategic choices. That doesn't mean you will have to be perfect forever. Nobody is. Self-awareness is a process and you are demonstrating that you are willing to analyze your actions. That is serious mental progress. (And a lot of mental goes on during the vsg journey.)

Fourth, feel good that you are taking steps to improve your health. Just be very aware that after surgery you really need to follow your nutrition program because if you don't there are potentially life threatening complications. Be serious about this because it is no joke. No myth there.

Fifth, be good to yourself. Love yourself and be your own best friend. Be patient and gentle with yourself. Stop any negative internal dialogue and replace it with positive thoughts and actions.

"Are you allowed to eat jelly doughnuts, Private Pyle?"

"Sir, no sir!"

"And why not, Private Pyle?"

"Sir, because I'm too heavy, sir!"

"Because you are a disgusting fatbody, Private Pyle!"

"Private Joker, he's silly and he's ignorant, but he's got guts and guts is enough. Now you two ladies carry on!" :P

oh man, i am 4 days post op and i would LOVE to cheat and actually chew something! A piece of toast, or those burritos sound amazing! Don't feel to badly though, i cheated the night before my surgery, and ate half a medium pepperoni pizza from my favorite pizza place in town. I know it was a bad choice, but i'm kind of glad that i did, especially knowing that i CANNOT cheat now and have to be saintly. So i think i got it out of my system! These liquid diets are really hard!!

You are now on THE BIG CHEATERS LIST! STop it right now you cheater.......Strong enough? This is really no big deal, it's presurgery and perhaps it was a moment of impulsiveness when your thought lied to you. Our thoughts are our worst enemy.......Now you recognize that you were impulsive and now move on and recognize when your thoughts are lying to you......Can't wait to hear more about how your doing post op....... :)

i'm only on my 4th day of the 3 week liquid diet, and it already sucks! I don't feel hungry which helps, but the smells of food or the thought of pizza rolls torture me. The physical hunger isn't the problem, it's the head hunger. for this stage my doc said i can have cocoa wheats, cream of wheat, cottage cheese things like that, which helps give some texture and semblance of "normal food". I use the cream Soups and add seasoning to them to get the flavor and that helps satisfy as well. We just have to take it one day at a time! As my husband said to me eariier today "Happy Hunger Games!" ( i wanted to kick him) so to that i add, "May the odds be ever in our favour!"

Lol!!! You all have me in stitches. I love it.

I would love cottage cheese!!!! Ugh. I hear people say how broth helps and what not..not for me.. but I do think it's head hunger. Totally. I panicked with that myth that my eating life is over!! It's not over. It's changing. We will get to eat yummies again. Right!?!? Lol. We will.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      3. buildabetteranna

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
