Just looking for some insight from people who have "been there". I am 2 weeks out and honestly, food is unappealing right now. Before surgery I went out and got Soups, tuna, chicken salad fixings...all these things that I could eat on a mushy/soft diet. It all sounded so good when I was on my pre-op diet and now none of it sounds good. From previous experience....have any of you had this happened if so, when did it get better. I really do want to be able to eat again and somewhat enjoy it. I am also kind of afraid to try new things as I don't want to get sick. Any words of wisdom or advise???

I went through something similar. I bought Soups but ended up making my own.

I feel for you.

All I can say is do your best to get in your Protein and Water. It will pass. Some things you may never want again. It does get better. If you can have eggs, scramble them with cottage cheese. It was pretty good.

This stage was rough for me. I wanted to eat foods allowed and was so excited but once I made them I just couldn't do it. I just focused on the Protein, which became a chore, and ate sugar free popsicles.

Good luck. Remember it gets better!

I still struggle with wanting food. It brought me such pleasure in my pre-sleeve life. :). I waste stuff now. Things do not taste same. My favs are not my favs anymore. Trying to find new things right now. I am about 7 weeks out. I did get some of changs whit meat chicken. No rice. And their special dipping sauce and that us frankly the only thing I have truly enjoyed.

I think in a few months things will change. It's hard but I never thought our journey would be easy.

Good luck and just keep trying. :(

I did the same thing preop and blenderized it. After surgery I didn't want any of it.

I have found since surgery that i crave savory flavors and not sweets so much anymore. I love Greek yogurt. It's been my savoir.

I also like egg beaters with cheese.

It just takes time and your tastes do change.

I had surgery Jan. 23rd and i am still learning.

Good luck on your journey! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
