Ugh. As I read these limitless threads where it seems most sleevers either gave no pain or are completely healed by day 3 I can't help but wonder what I must be doing wrong. Here I am in the very early hours of day 5 still needing painkillers and having to grimace through attempting to get up off the bed. Am I just a big baby? When will the pain lighten up already? I admit I am feeling a bit disheartened. :(

In my 6+ months on this site reading and researching this process the one very clear message i have heard is that everyones experience is different- doctors programs, surgery, pain, gas, food stages, loss, etc etc. you cannot compare yourself to others. If you need to revisit your doc or call, then do so. You know how you respond to pain so compare this experience to your other experiences. I know you want to be up and about and further down the road to activity and loss, but your body needs time to recover and you just have to hang in tthere until it does. I tried to do just a tiny bit more each day and look for the small improvements. Hopefully you have the time off work and dont have to go back too soon so you can get to know your new stomach and feel more comfortable physically. I do hope you feel better very soon.

I was sore for about 3 days after my surgery and then I started feeling a burning sensation especially around my incisions and the left side of my stomache. It was SO PAINFUL and I could take the pain meds they gave me because it damages my liver so I just had to try to deal with the pain. I won't lie to you. It usually takes 4 weeks for the pain to go away. And whatever you do...avoid snezzing!!!

I had incisional pain for a good 2 weeks, it hurt every time I was upright, so you are not alone!

I have learned pain is felt in different forms and not just by the traditional hurting/sore feeling. In my case nausea and coldness were forms of pain that last even up until today. I can actually deal with the actual soreness but still need to take the pain meds which takes care of the coldness and nausea.

I was sleeved on 2/19/13. At day 6, I no longer needed pain meds. But guess what yesterday and today the pain and soreness have come back. So I understand. Our bodies respond differently to pain so you just deal with it as best you can.

On a side note, when I was in the hospital the first day they made me walk. I was struggling to walk outside my room. Some man who got sleeved also passed me by like nothing almost running down the hallway. He had the surgery the same day but he wasn't in any pain. I saw him at the 1 week post-op visit and I was still favoring my right side incision. He had driven himself all the way from San Angelo and had even driven himself home from San Antonio the day he got out of the hospital. I had barely begun to drive that day of the post op visit and I was super sore when I got home.

I think it also probably depends on how much belly fat you have pulling on everything.

Thanks everyone. I am just tied of this pain already. I know it'll subside eventually...

I am almost 9 months out and down 115 lbs, but it was a really tuff road to get here, my first month was nothing but pain and exhaustion and I didn't start really feeling better and back to normal till 2 or 3 months after surgery, after all that it was so worth all the pain and everything else I went through to get to where I am today.

I went through the same thing. It took me between 3 n 4 weeks to be completely fine. We're all different so don't sweat it!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
