So I am 6 weeks out and we stopped to get my wife sone Chinese for dinner. I got beef on a stick. Very tender beef. I chewed it forever and did not have any problems with it. My diet from my doctor has soft foods for weeks 5-6 and nothing else after that. I am assuming that I can pretty much have anything I can tolerate now? Of course I will call but that seems to be the norm right?

My post op class advised for us to avoid beef, pork & lamb for 3 months. Their reasoning was that these meats (especially steak) are are poorly tolerated initially & may cause distress. They even advised that chicken should not be one of our first solid foods due to intolerance.

I'm sure that there are people that can handle it just fine, but my bariatric team doesn't want us testing ourselves. I was a little bummed (especially since I don't really dig poultry)

Everyone is so different!! I'm 4 months out and got sick twice this week on turkey breast, can only eat 1 egg and the white of a second egg, but 1/2 c. of lf cottage cheese. Depends on the day. But....am trying some new things too, like added strawberries to the cottage cheese, etc. Added a shake a day to up my Protein. Some days the liquids do well, and others I have to force myself to get them in.

I was allowed pork beef and lamb at 6 weeks and I tolerate them 10x better than chicken and fish ... especially cooked rare. These 3 were pretty much my staples at your stage so please dont avoid them!!!

As far as beef, I'm sticking with ground beef, broken up into crumbles - "loose meat" style. I put teaspoon of dehydrated onion flakes and two tablespoons of beef broth in a cup and microwave it for 30 seconds - that makes the onion flakes plump back to life. I mix that in with 4 ounces of ground beef and cook it in a skillet, breaking it up with a fork as it cooks. Delicious and easy to digest!

I am almost 6 mths out & beef is the one & only meat I cannot tolerate. I enjoy pork, lamb, chicken, turkey, but the easiest for me to eat/tolerate has to be seafood. Prior to bring sleeved beef was one of my favs & pork being a least fav. Well now I opt for seafood first then pork or turkey & chicken/lamb being a last resort.

I have found the ground sirloin or chicken breasts do better in a chile, white chile for chicken with Beans, etc. Hard for me to tolerate them plain as they are too dry., Depends on the day though. We are eating tilapia baked which has been very good. I'm over 4 months out but still can only eat 2 or 3 oz at the most of meat, and very slowly. Egg beaters are easier than eggs and I love eggs.

I am just 34 days out and the only foods on my forbidden list are raw veggies, skins of fruits and veggies, corn, nuts, seeds and alcohol or carbonated beverages. I have eaten chicken, pork and beef and have tolerated all of them in small amounts. Most of my Protein is still coming from Protein Drink. I can only eat 1-3 oz of solid food but can drink 8oz of liquid in a few minutes. It is still hard work and planning to get my minimums in everyday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
