Pot doesn't give everyone the munchies. That is just a stereotype. I don't get the munchies at all, and even if I did I'm not concerned because I'm not an idiot, I am not going to fill my sleeve just because I smoked some pot.

That's right, Aaron. Pain pills will screw you up big time, I mean just dealing with withdrawal when you run out is awful, let alone the side effects when you're on it (sweats, nervousness, ect).

If you take only enough to keep you comfortable through the pain (and not more than the prescribed amount) than you should be perfectly fine. So unless you are abusing them it's unlikely you will go through withdrawal.

As for your original question I would assume that as long as you aren't doing anything that is going to cause a lot of coughing or make you overeat you should be fine. I know that pot can help with nausea for some people. Personally if I did smoke I would wait a few weeks and then take it easy when you start back up again just to be safe.

Rose, thanks for your comment. I think we can all agree that different drugs effect different people differently. I really appreciate that you didn't come across as judgemental.

Not sure if this applies, as I am not a smoker (of anything) but my doctor told me that smoking really affects the time your body takes to heal. His words were "With smokers, all bets are off."

Hey, My only concern would be coughing and possibly putting your staple line a risk early on. That's it. After you're healed, whatever floats your boat!

I would say at the end of your diet progression - so maybe 12 weeks?

I agree, a few months. Just to be safe. Listen to your body!

How long does it take to actually be "healed"?

The staple line is considered healed at 6 weeks.

As for smoking you "should" never go back to it. If you are using THC medicinally there are much healthier & effective delivery methods. Vaping is just one of those.

I absolutley adore how this sight comes off as NON judgemental then people ask a question and you jump down their throats. I've seen it so many f***ing times it irritates me to a point of no return.

On topic... my surgery was 2/12 I smoked last week. I only needed on hit and I was good to go due to stomach and body asorbs differently now. My doctor said if it hurts DON'T do it. Its common sense really.

Don't judge people every one has their happy zone.. I mean remember what it was like when everyone on this sight medicated themselves with food....

Gosh.... hope this helped ya hun =)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
