is this something to be concerned about?

Recommended Posts

I am 11 days post op, yesterday I started to get a soreness about the size of my hand starting at the big incision and down the front of my abdomen again about the size of my hand. Its a new soreness like a giant bruise. It hurts more to bend over and turn even on my good side in bed. Has anyone else felt this pain? Is it something I should worry about?

I was doing relatively good. Getting better each day. This seems like a set back.

Mine started about four days ago. I think ot may be from the dissolvable sutures my Dr. uses there. I think part of it is dissolving- creating a change in the tension at my incision and thus renewed pain. If it gets worse, I'll call but since incision pain is normal I'm mostly waiting it out.

Sounds like the internal incision pain that is normal a little while out from surgery. Fortunately, the NP at my surgeon's office warned me about it. I was also doing great, no pain for a couple weeks, then bam! back to hurting. I also hurt most when I turned a certain way or bent over, etc. It goes away after about a week.

Jacee,

It may very well just be soreness but there are lots of things to be considered.

Since you are so newly post op you should call your drs office and speak with his assistant or nurse and let them guide you.

All my best!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
