I know 399 still seems like a lot but I am very happy!! I was 475 when I started this journey in September of 2012. On my date of surgery 1/28 I was 450 and as of today I am down to 399!! There were times in the beginning I didn't think this was a good idea, but I am at the point now where I am getting into a rhythm and am starting to make better choices on what I should eat. It seems I can handle almost anything in my new stomach so far with what I tried except mashed potatoes, I've tried them twice each time I get so sick. I still can't have bread, Pasta, rice, or steak for another 3 months but besides that my doctor has given the go ahead on everything else. It's still hard for me to tell when I am full due to eating to fast, but I am learning and getting better.

That's awesome! I was 450 when I started my pre-surgical program back in May 2012, and about 390 when I had my surgery on February 12, 2013. I was down to 366.6 this morning! I remember how great it felt to FINALLY be under 400! I'm looking forward to 350 and 100 lbs lost soon! Congratulations!!!!

AWESOME!!!!! It's a huge accomplishment and it DEFINITELY sounds like a big deal to me! Everything is relative to where you start from! I felt like throwing a party when I made it under 300 and was just regular "morbidly obese" instead of "SUPER-Obese".. I mean WHO is happy about being "just" morbidly obese? MEEEEEEEEEE that's who! Celebrate your accomplishment!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
