Help me out of this stall!

Recommended Posts

Any suggestions!? I know it's been talked about so much on here but now I feel like I'm going nuts. I've finally been getting into working out (started couch to 5k this week)... It'll be a month next week since my surgery (down 35 lbs incl pre op diet). I feel like I should go back to liquids only or just eat even less! I don't know what to do. Any words from the wise??

If you are a month out next week, you are in the dreaded week 3 stall. I am 33 days out and spent from day 15 to day 29 in a stall. I lost 16 pounds pre-op and 18 pounds from day 1 to day 15. Then nothing for two weeks. On day 30 I lost a pound and on day 32 another pound. You cannot expect a pound a day throughout the process. Here is how I look at it: it took my eight months pre op to lose 16 pounds and only 33 days to lose 20 pounds. That works for me. I promise you that you are not stuck forever. Just go with it and watch you body continue to shrink even while your weight stays the same

I hit stalls at that stage but I had already made my mind up that the fat was coming off no matter what the scale said. It was never about worrying that it wouldn't come off, it was more like being curious about how my body was going to do it. I did the right things and just stood back and watched.

I learned a lesson about patience from a cat I had, Bootsy. When I knew there was a rat in the house I would say, "Boot,..there's a rat in the house!" He would walk over to the heat register and stare down into it for hours on end. In the middle of the night he was meowing loudly and woke us up. We came out of the bedroom and he sat there in front of the door staring up at us with a dead rat at his feet. The look on his face was, "There ya go. Mission accomplished!"

The rat was as good as dead as soon as I told Bootsy about it. Yer fat is dead, too. Ya took out a contract on it. B)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
