I am a frum female from ny. I am apatient of Dr. Ren @ nyu. I would imagine there are a lot of frum people on this site based on the patients I see in their waiting room. Anyway, maybe someone should just start a new thread on the main page for frum people.

does anyone know what to do about the kezaysim that need to be eaten and drunk at the seder??

is there a way to deal with it bc of medical issues or is a loosening required?

There never seems to be enough of us to keep it going. I'm being banding on April 30, and I'm off all foods that bother me, so matzah is included. I'm not asking how much.....I found a friend for first night who supports me and won't bug me to eat what makes me ill. That goes for hte grape juice also. In general however, other than issues on Yom Kippur, health comes before anything. Don't worry about it.

Does anyone know of a good Kosher (dairy or parve, of course) whey or egg based Protein supplement? My son needs to increase his calories (I should have such problems) and was told to take Protein supplements. Unfortunately, none of the standard brands in the grocery stores have heksures (did I spell that correctly????) and he doesn't want to depend on only soy products.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I've been told by someone who did the reseach, that most of these products are kosher by but most don't go for the hecksher.

My view is different. It's medicine- it's medically required. As such it falls outside the usual kashrut standards unless you are extremely "darti" in which case you probably wouldn't find anything to use.

For myself, I believe health come first.

My advise for other is (always), consult your Rav if you live by one.

Best,

Gwenn

Check out KosherVitamins.com, they seem to have a few in stock.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
