ChristenOnAmission 27 Posted March 9, 2013 Ok ladies and gents. I am a big woman married to a lean, muscular stud muffin. I love him dearly but HATE his eating habits. He is one of those people that sits in the chair and never stops eating ( I am not exaggerating) he eats junk for hours. This already gets on my nerves because I know I cannot do that or I will gain 10 pounds a day. Is this going to be a bigger problem post op? I mean am I going to be bitter if he sits there scarfing chips and ice cream? Will this trigger me to want that junk? I'm thinking of making myself a sitting area in our bedroom just so I can avoid him in the evenings.

Lori228 60 Posted March 9, 2013 I have the same problem and twice now in the last week we ended up in fast food places so he can get a burger and I order a milk so I can add my Protein as I am only 8 days postop. He also munches on mini 3 musketeers (as I am typing this) and can eat ice cream like no other. The reality is you have to do whatever it takes for you to stay away from whatever it is not good for you. I am praying that in the future my new habits of moving more and exercising is going to keep me from sitting and munching with him like before, and if a quiet area will work for you then that might be the place. So far I am surviving, mainly because there is nothing I can do about it as I want more than anything my stomach to heal so there is no temptation there. But even preop I was starving and he ate--because he can. The sad truth is I will never be able to eat it and I have to deal with it but it is not only going to be at home but wherever I may be, at work, social situations, familiy gatherings. This sleeve is part of the equation, the other part is my head and I am praying that with those tools this will be very successful and I will be so happy about the new me that I will not want to be eating like him. That was the old me. I may miss it sometimes, but won't miss what I am losing--literally.
abridgie 73 Posted March 9, 2013 Honestly I sat the family down and said we can't have junk in the house for a while. They agreed but then I caught them sneaking it in and hiding it. To honest after surgery I don't even crave it anymore. I went through a drive thru because my 9 yr old claimed if he didn't eat right then he would die. Ya the burger and fries smelled really good but I didn't want it!
