1) I've read about people having them just watering them down. 2) the question will be if you go through this and still have the taste buds for it or want it. (My taste buds have changed tremendously and I'm a newbie. 2.28.13 (surgery date) 3) if you can ever have one again, it will be awhile after post op. 4) there is so much gas (burping/the other end) connected to this - I can only imagine what that kind of carbonation will do. Not saying no, just my opinion. I personally haven't had any soft drinks for about a month now & I was addict - could go through a half a case in a day or two. But I'm honestly not craving them.

Nah..just keep drinking that. Put a scoop of ice cream in it. Don't forget to enjoy a cigarette afterwards.

In all honesty ... you prob wont feel like it! A sip here and there wont do any harm though. By 3-4 months out you most likely wont want the empty calories.

I drink one or two caffeine free diet cokes every day. I love them and enjoy them with no issues.

I WaS a diet coke addict, my dr said I prob wouldn't even want or like them now...but he was wrong! He also said I could try & if it didn't give me gas pain...it was ok to have them in moderation. I was sleeved in Dec & since then have had 3...I haven't finished any...just a few drinks & done. Again...every dr has different rules...do what works for you! I got sleeved to get my life back & help me moderate...I don't see anything that I will NEVER have again...just smaller portions. I know others will disagree with me....but like I said, do what works for you!

Sheesh..we all design our own limits. At 5+ months out I drink nothing carbonated. I don't eat much sugar. I don't eat anything fried. I pretty much eat fairly healthy...but I am no carb Nazi. bread and rice and Pasta still have a profile in my daily diet. I drink wine on the weekends. I enjoy popcorn as a rare treat. YOU decide your own tolerances and limits. Nobody else can really advise you on what will work best for you. I'm down 66 lbs in 5 months with 30 or so lbs to go. There is no one size fits all. No magic formula that generates the ideal outcome for all. You are the only factor that designs your success.

My doc says you can have whatever you feel comfortable with. I tried a tiny sip of fizzy drink and my tummy was so upset I wouldn't try it again for a few months if ever. My nut told me that some people open the bottle, leave it in the fridge open for a few hours then drink it. It's kind of flat but helps with the pain and discomfort. I have tried it but I don't really feel the need. I was a coke zero addict before surgery, I would drink 2-3 litre bottles. now I haven't had any in months and I don't feel like it

I don't know what the deal is with milk. Pre sleeve I loved milk and drank two or three glasses a day. Now, it seems like one day I am lactose intolerant and the next day I am not. It is crazy.

My surgeon said that the NUTs will tell you not to but he said everything in moderation is fine. Although I have read that a lot of people can't drink it anything because the carbonation makes it really uncomfortable. If you really want it I say try it and see how you do and just make it a treat that you have every now and again.

For some it's hard to just have one every so often. I personally have 4oz of regular soda twice a week, and 2-3 beers per week. Lattes-- no way, I have one everyday! Btw- I'm 19 months post-op.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
