Why am I a Slowwwwwwwww loser?

Recommended Posts

Funny thing is there is always someone looking at our progress and wishing they were like us... There's always some we wish we're we're losing like too.

I'm eight weeks out and I'm an extremely slow loser and huge staller. I'm not giving up though.. Nope nope nope

I'm so much healthier and soooo much happier

See.. I wish I was losing like you and so many others! I guess the grass is always greener on the other side or in our case the scale is always better in the other bathroom?

Newgrandmother- hello darling, you know you're not alone. I too am a slow loser or am I? Guess you can look at either way. I would have never lost 56 lbs in 6 mos on my own. Or, if I did, I'd surely be slowly packing back on the pounds by now. You will get there....as they say: slow & steady wins the race :)

Cheri (veteren sleever) posted in another "slow looser" thread I am reading and she stated it the best: this is not a quote, but it went something like we are losing in line with the medically stated guidelines so in essence we are not slow loosers. I am on my crack/wackberry right now, so when I get home I will find what she wrote because it is so true!

Here is the link to the thread^^^^^^

By Cheri - Clk (hope you don't mind) every sleevers should remember this,

"I think that in reality, many that feel unhappy with "slow loss" are losing at the normal, medically suggested rate of loss. It's the comparison with people that manage to lose more than a hundred pounds in less than a year that has us feeling like there is something wrong with our pace or success."

Thanks again Cheri!!!!!

Stay encouraged everyone. I am also what some will say a slow loser but as of two days ago I am down 70 lbs @ 7.5 months. As a matter of fact my coworkers was just complimenting on my weight loss and how small I have gotten. I have stalled at least a month and a half twice. I was sad at first because I was reaching each goal at a certain point but I shouldn't have been beating up on myself. For the first time in years I bought a size medium shirt and 10 in pants. The 10's are a little tight but another 10 to 15 lbs and they will fit perfect. I'm learning to embrace myself. Best of success everyone.

I am 5 1/2 weeks out and only down 19 pounds. It does suck I see tons of people losing a ton. I try to not look anymore when people post stuff about it. It ends up depressing me too much.

I started out at 284 and am 5 foot 2. My doctor told me I would prob end up just at the 210-200 mark. Being 200 sounds amazing to me but at this rate it will take a full year to get there. I know he said one reason I won't loose more than that is because I had a high muscle weight. Maybe the people who loose crazy fast are losing a lot more because they started out with less muscle? I don't know if that's true but I tell myself that so I feel better!

ren you wont beilive this. but i upped my carbs and lowerd my protien from 90 to 70 carbs vary from 90-150. i added healthy fats like olive oi, avecados etc. and i reduced my workouts. and the scale moved oh and i did one Meal Replacement. and in one week i went from 225-226 for the past 2 months to now 220 which is my goal right now. yes its slow but we are going to get there. my number are the same as yours

im not saying do what i did but listen to your body if what you are doing is not working try something new we are all differant i know a lot of ppl are low carb high protien but some ppl are the opposite and i guess i am one of them

So are you suggesting that going low Protein and high carb is working for you? But yet you say you are a slow loser? Perhaps it's not working for you as well as you think. Perhaps so many people have been successful on low carb high Protein because that actually works.

butter i was a slow loser till i changed things up. im not like you and you are not like me dear friend our bodies are differant. why do you always come on a post and be so neg to a person on what they say. im posting what works for me not you and no one else.

what works for you may not work for me thats just it so dont critize me like you always do. i was informing the young lady that once i switched it up the scale moved 4lbs in 1 week.

and how one loses weight is not set in stone.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
