For me, they did a pulmonary function test, which is just this machine you breath in and out of, lots of forceful exhales. They also set an appointment for a sleep apnea exam which I needed because I had no other co-morbidities like high Blood Pressure, diabetes or high cholesterol.

I also need a PFT (pulmonary function test) and clearance but I didn't schedule that yet. Let me know how it goes if you get it done soon...

I saw the pulmonologist on wednesday. Just did a breathing test and was checked head to toe. He gave me the go ahead so now I'm waiting to see the cariologist for clearance.

I had a PFT (pulmonary function test), chest x-ray and EKG. Then at my pulmonary appointment, he went over the results of my chest x-ray and PFT, then ordered a sleep study to see if I have sleep apnea. He said I was good to go for surgery, he had no concerns. I had to reschedule my cardiologist appointment, due to bad weather, so I will see him this month to go over the EKG and see what he says.

Hey Christy how are things going, well the pulmonary test consist of a whole lot of breathing in and out through a hose then they put you in a chamber to see the level of your breathing and they also take blood from your artery in your wrist..not sure if that's how fae they have to go for you but that's what was done for me..keep in touch and I'm still seeing vemulapalli at montefiore ...hope to see you soon as well

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
