I was just curious if anyone else is working out/exercising during all of their pre-op diets and hoops that have to be jumped through. And if you do, what is your routine like? Currently, I try to make it to the gym 4-5 days a week. Usually 40 minutes of cardio, and then I switch it up strength training wise. One day upper body, one day core, one day lower, one day whole body, plus a 30 day squat challenge I started on the first.

Keep it up. The better shape you're in going into surgery, the easier your recovery will be. Weight loss is mostly about diet but being healthy takes exercise. You're developing a wonderful new habit that will not only extend your life but improve the quality greatly.

I personally would do your cardio after you lift weights. My current routine ...

Day 1- Back, biceps, traps, 45min Cardio

Day 2- Chest, shoulders, triceps 30min HIIT

Day 3- rest day, 45min cardio

Day 4- Legs, abs 30min HIIT

After day 4 I start all over again. I do cardio on my rest days but every 10 days or so I do a rest day that involves no working out or cardio.

Sometimes I do cardio first, sometimes I do weights first. It just depends on my mood, and how much time I have. I work out pretty regularly, I have since I originally got my Lap Band in 2009

When I was working with a personal trainer, she had me do cardio first, do half my weights work for the day, then go and do another round of cardio before finishing my weights. The idea was to keep my heart rate up. I still try to follow that practice when I do an extended session - it makes sense to me. Of course, sometimes I'm fitting in fifteen minutes here and there, and I do either/or with weights or cardio then.

I am walking. A friend and I do about a mile and a half each day. We split it between our breaks.

I have to get in shape for the gas relieving circuits around the hospital. :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
