I do not work outside the home, but the week following my surgery we began remodeling my DD's place, and I was out shopping, and working on things there that did not require lifting or stretching much. I think most on here have been up to returning to work within the week or 2 following. It mainly would depend on the type of work you do.

Good Luck in your research Dawn, and welcome to LBT!

Kat

I know everyone is different but how long were any of you off from work?

Thanks

still doing my Research

~Dawn

I had my surgery on a Tuesday and went back the following Monday. I could have gone back on Saturday if I worked weekends. I have a desk job, so no problems with the lifting or anything.

Hi, I had surgery on a Thursday and went back to work on Monday. I was tired, but other than that I was fine.

Everybody is different, so if you have any kind of flexibility on your time of it would help. I think it all has a lot to do with the condition you are in to start with. I know a lady that went to work the next day. But she is crazy anyway. lol

Good luck to you.

Hi! I was banded on Monday and tried to go back on Wednesday....Bad idea!! I ended up taking the whole week off. When I returned the next Monday, felt fine!! Don't push it. You need at least a week to recover well.

I was banded on a Thursday, took the following week off and went back to work the next Monday. I had a lot of pain and nausea the first 3 days and didn't really feel better until one week out. After that, I felt a little better each day, but I didn't have a lot of energy. At about 2 1/2-3 weeks I felt 100%.

I was banded on Thursday and ATTEMPTED to go back to work on Monday. BAD IDEA. I just didn't do well for about 2 weeks..... lots of nausea and weakness. Then after 2 weeks, I just bounced right back and have felt great since! BEST WISHES!

Banded on Monday, work on Thursday, riding 4 wheelers all day long on trails on day 10. Everyone is different just heal at your own pace. There's no award for trying to do things too soon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
