devonmae 56 Posted March 8, 2013 Went to the nut today. This is my first appointment in the process. She said with my insurance once they submit it they get approval in 24 hours and the surgeons are booking a month out so i could be having surgery in April!! Wow makes it so real now. I have to do the 2 week liquid diet but that is my surgeons only requirement.

CharlaMae 20 Posted March 8, 2013 I'm in the same boat. I'm 33, no real Co-morbities. BMI: 42-ish. I already had CXR, blood work, etc completed when I met with my surgeon. Later that day I received clearance from a cardiologist. I see the psych/nutritionist next week and am too planning on an April surgery date. I'm so excited, and completely ready I've been researching and contemplating WLS for >10 years! 2013 is my year!!
Jerrikoe68 5 Posted March 8, 2013 That's very exciting! I meet with my surgeon next Tuesday. He requires a recommendation from my primary care doc and clearance from a cardiologist and a pulmonologist. I only have the visit with the cardiologist left to do. I hope everything goes pretty quick for me as well.

Jerrikoe68 5 Posted March 9, 2013 I live in Indiana and I don't have insurance that covers the surgery so I am paying for it myself. I am having it done in Jeffersonville which is about 2 hours from where I live. It's significantl less expensive than my hometown.
Olivia23 68 Posted March 12, 2013 Jerrikoe68 - since you are self pay did you have to have any pre-op test done? Such as a sleep study etc. or did they schedule you pretty quickly? I'm also going to be pre pay and I worry about all the test I may have to pay for before surgery.
JP69 116 Posted March 12, 2013 What is the sleep study for or do? I didn't have that. Just blood work and ekg. I have Kais er.
Jerrikoe68 5 Posted March 12, 2013 Olivia23- I had to have clearance from a cardiologist and a pulmonoligist, which has cost me about $500. I don't have to have a sleep study done. The pre-op tests such as ekg, chest x-ray, bloodwork are included in the fee of my surgeon. I meet with the surgeon today and they have already scheduled my surgery for April 4. I am amazed at how fast everything has gone.
