Dr mun at harbor city was terrific he was always great with my family and keeping them updated if harbor city is where kaiser has their bariatric program I live in Orange County and that's where they sent me I had a lapband and so sick of it I was looking to get it removed went to my consult and dr mun offered the remove and give the sleeve all at once after two docs told me kaiser doesbt do that he really gave me hope i never went through the 12 week options program he was open and honest with me he is always very strict tells you up front if you don't follow the rules then I won't operate on you and one of the girls I work with had him she didn't follow the pre op diet and barely lost any weight so he refused to operate on her he is really good I think it shows he really wants to help change people's lives

They sent me to him. But when the case worker calls you I am sure you could ask for a specific Dr. I just went with who was closest to where I live.

I am scheduled to meet with Dr. Fedorka and they just called me and told me who i had the appoinment with... I didn't choose. I guess it all depends on who has open surgery dates when you are ready. I know Chin & Fedorka work hand in hand together though. I have heard so many great things about Fedorka so i am happy.

Hey T, I didn't know they were opening in May, maybe i might be having it done in Fontana then....alot closer to home.

I had mine done out of Kaiser Riverside. They refer you to a surgery center that contracts with Kaiser. I went thru Suh Bariatric. I have read that Dr. Suh is ranked top 5 bariatric surgeons in the country. He's been doing these surgeries for 17 years. He is an amazing doctor and his staff is wonderful. He has two office locations, one in Corona and one in Murrieta. Surgery is done at Southwest Hospital in Wildomar, but hear he will be doing them soon, as well, at the new Loma Linda Hospital. Highly recommended!!

Fedorka is great. Very straight forward...not a man of many words. My surgery and recovery went flawlessly. I'm 6 months out down 110. His staff is wonderful and my follow ups have been very good. You are definitely in good hands

Wow! 110lbs in 6 months? What does your diet and excersise regimen consist of? That is definitely motivating. Thanks.

Not to make it sound so simple...but I've been following the guidelines they gave in the options program to a t. I lost 20 pre op while going through options. I work out 5 days a week. I'm doing my first 5k next friday. The most important thing for me is to log EVERYTHING and get in my Protein requirements. If you follow what you learned ...you'll be fine. Just remember its a total lifestyle change.

Yay!! I found some locals! I am in my 4th week in options in Fontana (2nd time around, I graduated in 9/2011 but decided not to go through with the surgery and now I'm back, go figure). They are still saying that we are going to be with either Fedorka or Chin but they are still out of St bernardines for now. Any regrets for anyone?? I am excited and terrified!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
