To those who went through Kaiser Redlands, who is your PCP? I officially have Kaiser and am trying to get the ball rolling, but there are so many PCPs to choose from and didn't want to waste time with a randomly choosen dr who is going to turn my referall request down anyway. :P

My Dr. is Evon Ebraham. My situation is a bit different because I had a lapband that was giving me major problems. There is a 12 week required set of classes that Kaiser will have you do. This is the best I've got for ya. Good luck.

Just a general question... I Had my PCP appointment yesterday. I asked for a referral for bariatric surgery and he put in a referral for it, and he referred me for the health classes (I'm assuming and HOPING the Options program?) he says its a process, which I know.

Anyhow, just wondering how long it took for them to call you to get everything going? He said they would be in touch with me. I'm getting my bloodwork done tomorrow as he said it would be good to have that done and over with.

Kb88, no worries! I felt like Kaiser's Options program department was very fast to call me back...if you're on top of your labs, food logs, and going to the classes you should have your surgery within a little over 4 months...a friend of mine just received her referral two and a half weeks again and she has already attended the orientation and started her first Options class last Wednesday! Good luck!

Oh, by the way, I was sleeved last Tuesday July 23rd!

Thanks so much RellyRel! Congrats on your sleeve! It's been over a week now since the referral. Should I call tomorrow? Or how long should I give them do you think? Thanks again for your response!

I had Dr. Mun from Harbor City Kaiser...

He was very straight forward to the point and does a good job at asking all the right questions in regards to your medical history...

He is very thorough and cares about his patients....I felt that he cared for my well being and me resuming to my normal life after getting sleeved....

I am diabetic and now off two of my diabetes meds ---no insulin and no glipizide pills...I am now wearing size 20 pants !!

I was sleeved 6/26/13

Hey! It wouldn't hurt to call them...You might be able to speed things up If the department is falling behind on their phone calls...Good luck!!!

Thanks so much! I went on kaisers website and it turns out they don't have a number on file for me. Grr I'm so mad at myself! I am going to call tomorrow. Hopefully I can still get in the August classes. Do you remember what day of the week yours was?

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
