My name is Dana and I've been to my informational meeting and have my first appt with the surgeon next week. I've been doing TONS of research and reading posts and know more about my insurance company than I want to ever know!!! I'm leaning towards having the sleeve vs the bybass at this point, but that may change. I know every hospital and surgeons are different, but was just wondering about what I would need at the hospital? I know it's a long way off, but I like to be prepared!! Should I even worry with my own gowns? Robes?

I hope to become a fixture on these message boards as I'm very determined to take back my life through this!!

Sounds like u r ready :)

I only stayed at the hospital for one night and what I really used was pants, after i was up and about I put loose pants on and was so happy. You also walk around so the pants come in handy. Also socks or slippers, and a hair clip and head band. I didn't take a shower at the hospital so my hair looked crazy and it helped me feel better to put it back. I could have stayed 2 nights and looking back maybe I should have, my first day and night home were the worst one, I was so nauseous and felt horrible...7mths out now and it is the best decision I ever made !!

Thanks so much! At the meeting, they said they keep you at least 2 days. I only stayed in the hospital 2 days after having my c-section and looking back, should have stayed the extra night!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
